Somaliland University of Technology (SUTECH) in cooperation with CARE International (based in Somaliland), runs WOMEN’s EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME (WEP) in Hargeisa.

The classrooms are equipped with a good resource of teaching materials as well as vocational training materials including computers and projecters.

Programme Participants

The women who participate in this programme range in age from 16 to 40 years and include single, married and widowed women.

Women’s Empowerment Cirriculum

There two Training programs:

A. Skills Development:

The women learn basic literacy and numeracy as well as vocational skills like Secretarial studies and English language. Women also gain important knowledge regarding health and hygiene. The training materials and equipment required for the programme are provided by Somaliland University of Technology.   

B. This program aims at: 1. Womens' Leadership and Participation 2. Strengthening the Voice of Women Leaders 3. Women's Economic Empowerment 4. Women's Training and Skills Development 5. Women's Rights Advocacy and Awareness
